Piha is new zealand's most famous surf beach. Karekare is a small coastal settlement in the auckland region of northern new zealand, sandwiched between the waitākere ranges and a large black sand surf beach. Check out karekare beach, the famous setting for the film the piano, it’s smaller and quieter than piha beach and you can find it by following the signposted turnoff on piha road.
